United States District Court Judge Thomas F. Hogan has issued an order with a new location for the Dixon lawsuit Fairness Hearing scheduled at 10 am, Thursday, February 16, 2012. The hearing will be held in Courtroom 20, the Ceremonial Courtroom located on the Sixth Floor of the main courthouse, 333 Constitution Avenue NW.

The Court granted preliminary approval on September 20, 2011 of a Settlement Agreement between the District government and plaintiff’s counsel to resolve the long standing Dixon class-action lawsuit. Before granting final approval, the Court must hold a hearing, referred to as a “Fairness Hearing” and determine that the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.

As required by the September 20 Court order, the Department of Mental Health mailed a notice (notice) of the proposed Settlement Agreement to more than 27,000 District residents enrolled in the public mental health system.

The February 16 Fairness Hearing will be held in open court so anyone from the public may attend.  The Court’s security policies require that person who seeks to enter the courthouse must present a government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license.
